Ngamba Island is located in the middle of Lake Victoria, offering a safe haven to orphaned and rescued chimpanzees. This unique conservation habitat was established by the Chimpanzee Sanctuary & Wildlife Conservation Trust (CSWCT) to accommodate these social and highly intelligent creatures.
The island serves as an exceptionally rare place where humans may approach chimpanzees to observe them in a secluded environment semi-native for these animals. Visit the sanctuary and attend to the daily feedings of the primates, indulge in the view of the chimps that have grown to be more approachable and playful, and listen to the guides describing the islands and their living creatures.
In addition to this, by preceding chimps to the safety of the island, the CSWCT also protects these species from threats, both natural and manmade. Given the rate at which tropical forests are being decimated these days and the increasingly perilous nature of the interspecies correlation, it is more critical than ever to help chimpanzees persevere where they belong. You can also help make a difference by supporting one of the animals on the island.
Ngamba Island’s nonpareil contribution to the conservation of one of the most endangered primate species cannot be overstated. You can visit as soon as you can to enjoy one of the most engaging and satisfying ecotourism expeditions.
