These short day trips include among others;- a Kampala City tour, Half or Full day trips to Ngamba Island for chimpanzee viewing, tours to Jinja, and Ziwa for Rhino trekking, birding trips within and around Kampala / Entebbe plus a tour to Mabamba Swamp and the Equator Line.
Primate Watch Safaris in support of projects aimed at conserving and re-introducing wildlife in Uganda’s National Parks, offers 1 day excursion tour to Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch.
Located in Nakasongola 176 km North of Kampala off Kampala – Gulu Highway is Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch. This Project was founded by the Rhino Fund Uganda and Uganda Wildlife Authority to re-introduce Black and White Rhinos in Uganda’s National Parks.
The Majestic animals once found in Kidepo and Murchison Falls National Parks had disappeared due to widespread poaching during the Idi Amin era. Following the extinction of Uganda’s rhinos in the early 1980s during the period of civil unrest and heavy poaching, a sanctuary was established to breed black and white rhinos and restore their populations in Uganda’s protected areas at a later stage. The sanctuary is currently home to over 30 Southern white Rhinos. The sanctuary has over time become a popular tourist site not only to trek the majestic animals but also an excellent paradise for bird watching, nature walks and just relaxation.
After breakfast at your accommodation, you are met by our representative who doubles as your safari driver guide. He will take you on a panoramic drive Northwest of Kampala through the famous battle zone of Luwero Triangle to Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch. Rhino trekking takes about 2 hours in the company of well-trained and knowledgeable local guides. The other activities at this Ranch include bird watching and Nature walks among others. Lunch is served at the Ziwa Restaurant, or you may go to Amuka Lodge.
You later drive back to Kampala/Entebbe where you are dropped off after the tour.
